(1) The work, duties and powers of the Commission shall be as follows:-

(a) To advise the Government of Nepal regarding the establishment of a university.

(b) Determining the policy regarding providing the amount of grants received from various sectors to the universities.

(c) Giving grants to the universities and making recommendations to the relevant bodies for the universities requesting additional grants.

( d) Establishing coordination between universities to make the educational programs conducted in universities standard. To make necessary arrangements in connection with.

(g) To make necessary arrangements in connection with exchange of scholarship, scholarship, etc. between universities or educational institutions inside and outside Nepal.

(h) To maintain coordination between universities.

(i) To submit the annual report of the Commission's activities to the Government of Nepal. (2) If the Commission deems it necessary, it may consult with any native or foreign expert or consultant.
